Crew Leaders and Rotations

  • Crew Leaders* - be responsible for a crew of students and lead them through the different VBS rotations.

  • Crew Leader (Gospel Sharing focus) - Gospel Sharing CLs will be assigned to a Crew, with the specific objective of meeting 1-on-1 with each student to share the gospel with them.

  • Bible Teaching - be part of a team that develops and teaches interactive Bible lessons for the students based on the VBS curriculum.

  • Games* - plan and lead games and activities for the students. Must have lots of energy!

  • Crafts - calling all Creatives: plan and lead crafts for students based on the VBS curriculum. Manage budget to purchase crafts materials and supplies.

  • Music - lead singing and praise time during Opening and Closing Assembly and/or during the Singing Rotation. May include singing, playing instruments, or leading hand motions.

  • Snacks - serve simple prepackaged snacks during everyone’s favorite rotation. Set up the snack station tables and chairs on some of the days, and disinfecting areas before/after.

Ancillary Ministry Areas

  • Nursery - provide supervision and TLC for VBS Volunteers’ babies (infants to 24mo.) May include diaper changes, bottle feeding, meals (provided by parents), and song and playtime.

  • Preschool - lead a “mini-VBS” for VBS Volunteers’ preschool age children (2-5yr.) Responsibilities include accompanying the preschoolers during the VBS assembly time, guiding them in a modified VBS curriculum, singing and Bible story time, and distributing snacks.

  • Hospitality - greet and help VBS students and parents check in. Chinese speakers are needed!

  • Parent Program - plan, participate in, and build relationships with parents. Parent Program is held concurrently during VBS for both English and Chinese speaking parents of students.

  • Friday Open House* - wrap up VBS week on a joyous note at Friday Open House. Help with set-up, serving food, setting up crafts display, and clean-up.

  • Lunch Prep - cook, serve, and clean up lunch for Volunteers during VBS week. This position needs to be available in the mornings to prepare lunch (prior to VBS); you do not need to stay after lunch for the entire VBS afternoon.

Operational Support

  • AV - perform audio and visual production during Opening/Closing assembly and Singing Rotation. Must undergo training, or be approved to operate AV in the Hope Center. AV team is essential to running VBS’s production, and is open to adults (18+) who are willing and interested in learning.

  • Lunch Prep (morning commitment only) - cook, serve, and clean up lunch for Volunteers during VBS week. Needs to be available in the mornings (approx. 8:30am-12pm) to prepare lunch prior to VBS. Lunch Prep volunteers are not required to stay after lunch for the entire VBS afternoon.

  • Photography/Videography - receive access to capture photo and video memories from VBS. Footage will be compiled into daily recaps. Can work in shifts to split up the week. Not required to be present the whole time.

  • Registration - assist during Check-in and Check-out.

May also be called upon to help Crew Leaders who need extra support. Other tasks as needed.

  • Help wherever needed - “Put me anywhere!”

*may involve some physically laborious tasks
