Nursery

What is the minimum age I can bring my child to Children’s Ministry?
CM serves children from birth to 5th grade.

What is the procedure to check in my child?
Come to the Children’s Check-In area near the front of Grace Center. To ensure the safety of the children, you will be given a form to complete and a unique code to use when you pick up your child. The helpers there will give you a detailed explanation. After your initial registration, you will check in with your phone number.

What is the procedure to pick up my child?
You will pick up your child directly from class. Present your pick up code sticker and the helpers will inform you of any important information.

What is the ratio of helpers to children in the nursery?
Our aim is 1 adult to 2 children. Some children may need more attention, so oftentimes the ratio is 1:1. There may be days when we cannot meet this ratio. If we cannot care for the children safely, we will set a capacity limit and open by first come, first serve.

Who are the helpers and teachers in the class?
All volunteers in Children’s Ministry must be regular worship attendees of our church for a minimum of 6 months and consider this their home church. They are screened with an application process that includes a background check, references, salvation testimony, and a personal interview with the Children’s Director.

How can I learn about what my child will be doing and meet the helpers and teachers?
It is important and your right as the parent to know what the Children's Ministry does and how we operate. The best way to do that is to take a 10-minute tour with Auntie Katy between 9:30am-10:00am on Sunday mornings. Email [email protected] to let her know if you plan to come or simply drop by to see if she is available. She’ll be happy to answer all your questions.

What if my child needs to nap during her time in nursery?
Your child can sleep in the crib in the nursery. Please note that the crib is in the same room as all the other children and helpers so there will still be noise. You also have the option to take your child out to nap.

What if my child needs to be breastfed, bottle fed, or eat during her time in nursery?
You may breastfeed in the nursery, in the Grace Center Nursing Room, or in the Hope Center Cry Room. You can also communicate any feeding schedule with the helper and they can assist at the appropriate time. There is a warmer but no microwave in the nursery.

What if my child cries when I drop him/her off?
It is normal for children to cry a bit when they are separated from their parents. Be assured that the aunties there will comfort and play with them to help their adjustment. If the child cries inconsolably, we will call/text you. It may take several weeks for the child to adjust. However, if you bring your child consistently to the nursery, he will eventually happily come to church.

What should I bring?
Please bring diapers, wipes, and a set of extra clothes in a labeled plastic bag. Any food and water bottles must be labeled. You will not be able to leave your diaper bag in the nursery.
